Jonnie Irwin had the 'worst day of his life' on family day out

Jonnie Irwin opened up about the best and worst parts of being a dad in an emotional video this week.

The TV presenter, best known for his role on A Place in the Sun, revealed in November 2022 that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer two years previously and was given six months to live. The Channel 4 star decided it was time to share his diagnosis in order to encourage others to "make the most of every day".

Jonnie recently spoke to HELLO! in a new interview where he left an emotional message for his three sons Rex, four, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two.

The footage showed the 49-year-old gush about his "caring" sons, as well as his wife Jess, who he said is "born to be a parent" and the "yin to my yang".

He said becoming a parent gives you "super powers" and said he believes his sons will grow up to do great things. Jonnie also recalled taking the kids to a "farm slash zoo slash kids' heaven" where they enjoyed a magical time.

But he also spoke of the "worst part of my life" when one of the boys went missing for around 20 minutes. He said: "It ended badly because we lost one of the children.

"It was pretty much the worst part of my life. But we found them again and there were fallings out over ice cream and so on, and they loved it so much".

Even though he is fighting the biggest and hardest battle of his life, Jonnie is still putting others first. He recently revealed he kept his terminal cancer battle a secret for two years in order to keep working to provide for his family.
