Amanda Lamb has said "life is so unfair" amid her friend Jonnie Irwin's cancer battle as she admitted she "can't bear" thinking about it. The TV presenter and property expert described Jonnie - best known for Channel 4's A Place in the Sun and the BBC's Escape to the Country - as a "gorgeous human being".
Jonnie revealed in November that he had terminal lung cancer which had spread to his brain. The 49-year-old, who previously worked with Amanda through their roles as A Place in The Sun presenters, was told he had cancer in 2020 but initially decided to keep his diagnosis private.
Now, Holiday Homes In The Sun host Amanda has spoken about her friend's battle for the first time. She told the Express: "One of the things I love about Jonnie is how he is tackling it with such dignity.

"I love the fact he is doing all these experiences and he is going to all these places. I hope he gets to see many more. But it’s horrific and I can’t bear it.
"He is such a gorgeous human being and it’s beyond heartbreaking. Life is so unfair. I’ve sent a message to Jonnie. He knows how loved he is but – rightly - he needs to focus on his immediate family now."
Amanda hosted A Place in the Sun from 2001 until 2009, with Jonnie joining the popular Channel 4 series in 2004 and staying on as a presenter until 2021. While presenters host shows separately, they worked together many times over the years at A Place In The Sun Live exhibitions and Amanda said this time holds a special place in her heart.
She continued: "I think when you are going through anything whether it’s a bereavement, divorce, or a monumental occasion in your life, it is very important to know you are loved but also to know people are there if you need them. Cancer is such a horrible disease. It is absolutely horrendous and the outpouring of love for him has been unbelievable."
