Jonathan Smith provides Aidan Chiles injury update following loss to IU

Michigan State football should have its starting quarterback back in the lineup next time they take the field.

That’s what head coach Jonathan Smith said following the Spartans’s blowout loss against Indiana. Spartans starting quarterback Aidan Chiles left the game in the third quarter with an injury and didn’t return following the play. Chiles was hit by an Indiana defender and went straight to the locker room with the training staff. He eventually returned to the Spartans’ sidelines but didn’t come back into the game.

The nature of the injury was not announced following the game. He was, however, seen after the game with tape on his right hand and wrist, according to Ian Kress of WLNS.

Here’s what Smith had to say about the injury during his postgame press conference:

Michigan State lost to the Hoosiers by the final score of 47-10. The Spartans are now 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Big Ten play. Michigan State is on a bye next week and will return to action at Illinois on November 16.
