Although Steph Curry, Chris Paul and Draymond Green were on the sideline on Sunday night, there were still fireworks between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings in the preseason.
With each team trading buckets and runs, Sunday’s preseason contest featured a flurry of lead changes down to the wire and into overtime.
While the Kings wouldn’t go away without a fight, the Warriors gained the last laugh, outscoring the home team 10-4 in the overtime period. After edging the Kings on Sunday evening, the Warriors are 3-0 in the 2023 preseason.
With a trio of veterans out, Jonathan Kuminga took over against the Kings to keep hot in the preseason. After scoring 26 against the Lakers on Friday, Kuminga dropped 28 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field to go along with six boards, an assist and a steal against the Kings. Kuminga attacked the charity stripe, shooting 17 free throws against the Kings on Sunday.
Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, Lester Quinones and Moses Moody tallied double-figure scoring efforts against the Kings. Similar to his postseason performance in Sacramento last year, Kevon Looney grabbed 14 boards in 24 minutes on Sunday night.
The Warriors will be back on the court on Wednesday in a rematch against the Kings in the preseason at Chase Center in San Francisco.
