The Arizona Cardinals have added a few names to the list of candidates they are considering to full their vacant head coaching position. One coach they had interest in is Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, per a report on Sunday.
However, it does not appear that they will even get to interview him.
Following the Eagles’ 31-7 victory in the NFC Championship Game to send them to the Super Bowl, Gannon told Philadelphia’s FOX 29 he wasn’t going anywhere.
“Philly’s keeping me,” Gannon said after being told that perhaps it was his last home game coaching for the Eagles. “Good, bad or indifferent, I’m staying here.”
Gannon was a finalist for the head coaching job for the Houston Texans and the Cardinals and Denver Broncos have shown interest.
However, 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans is expected to be named head coach of the Texans.
The Cardinals have interviews lined up for the next three days, beginning Tuesday. They will interview New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka Tuesday, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo on Wednesday and Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan on Thursday.
