Jon Voight’s thoughts on Israel and Palestine have been clear since November 2023. Then, sat in front of an American flag in a video posted to social media, the Oscar-winning actor seemed to be reading off an autocue. His stances were all fire and brimstone, finger-wagging, and operatic declarations that “the Messiah will win this war” between Israel and Hamas. It was undeniably dramatic. And this week he’s hit out at his Oscar-winning daughter Angelina Jolie, who has merely called for an Israeli ceasefire. Voight, however, has claimed that Jolie has actually been “influenced by antisemitic people”, adding: “Angie has a connection to the UN, and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”
