Johnston close to new deal as NRL try record beckons

Alex Johnston's chances of breaking Ken Irvine's try-scoring record in South Sydney colours are set to sky-rocket, with the winger edging closer to a new Rabbitohs contract.

Johnston became only the second man to bring up 200 career tries on Sunday, scoring a hat-trick in the Rabbitohs 36-30 loss to the Warriors.
