John Souttar sends Rangers 'lift ourselves massively' message for Celtic as he targets final

John Souttar has told his Rangers team-mates they can't feel sorry for themselves and they need to lift themselves 'massively' for Celtic.

Michael Beale's men suffered defeat at Aberdeen on Sunday as they head into the Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final showdown on the back of a defeat. It's a first loss for the Ibrox gaffer to a side outside of the Hoops as they fall 13 points behind Ange Postecoglou's men at the Premiership summit with five games to play.

That defeat, coupled up with Celtic's home draw with Motherwell, gives the table toppers the chance to wrap up the league title in the first game of the league split. The SPFL are yet to confirm the schedule for the final run-in but all that is put to the side with this week all focused on the big match at the national stadium.

Rangers know the importance of a win with the winner deemed the heavy favourite to go on and lift the famous old trophy with lower league opposition of Falkirk or Inverness awaiting in the end of season showpiece. A win for Celtic would mean they would be in the driving seat to end the season with a Treble while a Light Blues win would deny them and put Beale and Co in a strong position to end the season with silverware.

Speaking to Rangers TV after the defeat at Pittodrie with Celtic now on the mind, Souttar said: "We've got to lift ourselves massively. It's a big game on Sunday. A massive game.

"Everybody needs to pick themselves up and not feel sorry from themselves.

"Get ready for Sunday and get through to the final."
