John Rankin reunites with former Hearts kid as Hamilton Accies complete fifth summer transfer

Former Hearts attacker Dario Zanatta has moved to Hamilton Accies from Championship rivals Raith Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old was a produced of the Jambos' youth academy and has had previous spells in Scotland's lower leagues with the likes of Queen's Park, Partick Thistle, Ayr United and Alloa Athletic. The Canadian worked with boss John Rankin while with Hearts and he admits he was very keen to work with him again when the chance came up.

Zanatta is excited by the vision the club have set while new boss Rankin has hailed his latest summer signing as someone who is 'direct and likes to make things happen in attack'. He will wear the No10 jersey after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal. He said: “I am delighted to have signed for the club. Obviously, I have worked with the gaffer before at Hearts, and when the opportunity came up to work with him again I was very keen to sign.

“I’ve had a couple of conversations with him and his vision for the club is one which excites me. As a player, I want to create chances and do what I can to help this team win football matches.“

Gaffer Rankin added: “Dario is a fantastic addition to the squad we have here. He is direct and likes to make things happen in attack. I think he is one who will excite the supporters.

“I’ve worked with him before when he was a young kid, and you could see the talent he had then. He comes here with a good bit of experience under his belt and will improve the quality and the depth we have in the wider areas.”
