John Legend says relationship with Chrissy Teigen was 'tested' after miscarriage

John Legend has said that his relationship was "tested" with his wife Chrissy Teigen after she sadly miscarried in 2020.

The couple lost their baby boy Jack in September 2020, with the pair candidly sharing their ordeal on social media at the time.

And now John has spoken to The Guardian about how the tragic loss impacted upon his and Chrissy's relationship.

He explained to the paper: "We were tested.

"It was a tragedy. But I think it strengthened our resolve and our resilience because we were there for each other.

"We came out even more sure of who we were as a couple and as a family."

On October 1, 2020, Chrissy took to Instagram to share the news with the world.

" We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.

"We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough," she explained in the social media caption.

She went on to detail how she and John had named their baby boy Jack, before writing a moving message to her son and then thanking everybody for their kindness and support.

Chrissy concluded: "We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience.

"But everyday can’t be full of sunshine.

"On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out.

"But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it."

Now John has explained to the paper that it was "raw" for them to open up in the vulnerable way they did.

"I was worried but our instinct was to do it because people knew we were pregnant and Chrissy felt like she needed to tell the story completely about what happened."

John later added: "It was a powerful and brave thing that Chrissy did to share that because it made so many people feel like they were seen and that they weren’t alone."
