Musician John Legend has shared how he still carries the trauma of losing his and wife Chrissy Teigen’s baby son, Jack, who was stillborn two years ago.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs on Sunday, the 43-year-old explained how he “finds no real comfort” in the situation even though the tragedy “doesn’t feel as heavy” as time goes by.

Legend and Teigen, 36, share two children together conceived by IVF - their daughter Luna, six, and son Miles, aged four.

The model recently announced that the couple are expecting their third child together.

This comes two years after the pair lost Jack when Teigen was 20 weeks pregnant in September 2020.

She wrote on Instagram: “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.

“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, “ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce” but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing.”

She added: “Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”

Legend has also praised his wife for being open about their loss and making a “really powerful, wise decision” in sharing the black and white images of the moment of the tragedy.

The Grammy Award-winning musician and The Voice coach said: “I was hesitant to share it, but I think Chrissy was really right. Way more people than anybody realises go through this and they think they are alone.”
