John Kennedy warns no-one is guaranteed a spot in the Celtic team in the Scottish Cup final, while responding to the news St Mirren won't give them a guard of honour this weekend.
The Hoops have the chance to seal a domestic Treble at Hampden on June 3 having already claimed the Viaplay Cup and wrapped up the Premiership title weeks ago. They had hoped to smash the top flight points record for another milestone to celebrate but those hopes were ended at Ibrox last week as Rangers ran out 3-0 winners.
It was a rare black spot in a domestic season that has been virtually spotless otherwise but Kennedy insists the coaching team aren't taking it lightly. And he says any player who wants to start against Inverness next month will have to earn it. He said: "No-one's guaranteed a spot in the team. Obviously we're disappointed with last week but if somebody's in the team for the next two or three weeks and they're not performing then there will be someone behind them waiting to take their spot for the final.
"Firstly it comes the weekend, we've got to get our performance levels back to what we expect. Then we'll see how we're looking for the final."
Kennedy also responded to the news that St Mirren will follow Rangers in snubbing a guard of honour for the Premiership champions on Saturday. But he echoed boss Postecoglou in not being fussed.
He said: "That doesn't make a difference because we can't affect that. We'll just go out and try and win the game."
