The Cincinnati Bengals match up against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 on New Year’s Eve and the referee for that game has been revealed.
John Hussey will be the head referee for a Bengals game for the second time this season. The first was when they beat the Los Angeles Rams 19-16 on a Monday night in Week 3. Before that, he had also called the Bengals vs. Steelers game on Dec. 21, 2020, when Ryan Finley led Cincinnati to a win in which Juju Smith-Schuster took a big hit from Vonn Bell after dancing on the Bengals logo at midfield.
Cincinnati is 5-3 in games that Hussey is referee for and have a three-game win streak which includes its regular season win over the Chiefs last season.
Through 14 games this year, Hussey and his crew are averaging 12.8 flags thrown per game, including the Cleveland Browns win over the San Francisco 49ers in which 25 penalties were committed combined.
The Bengals are ranked second in the NFL with just 4.8 penalties per game and the Chiefs are 18th in the league with 6.0 per game.
