John Henry given new playful dig after £60m Dominik Szoboszlai Liverpool transfer

Swedish buy now, pay later service Klarna have aimed another playful dig at Liverpool owner John W Henry following the arrival of RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield.

Liverpool triggered the Hungary international's £60m release clause to make him the fourth most expensive signing in the club's history. Szoboszlai has become the Reds' second summer addition after Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister arrived in a £35m deal.

Liverpool's owners have come under fire in recent seasons from fractions of the fanbase for their perceived lack of investment into Jurgen Klopp's squad. The failure to bring in new faces has drawn criticism as a result and Klarna wasted no time in poking fun once more at Henry following the arrival of Szoboszlai.

After David Ornstein's tweet on June 28 that the Reds were exploring a move for the 22-year-old, Klarna replied by saying "@John_W_Henry you know you can just DM us, right?"

And now five days after Szoboszlai arrived at Liverpool, they have posted a tweet featuring a picture one of their advertising boards outside Liverpool Lime Street Station, near St George's Hall, with the Radio City Tower behind it, with the words: "Welcome Szoboszlai! (....and you're welcome too, John!)."

Accompanied with the tweet were the words: "Ws [Wins] all round. P.S. if you post a pic with the wall and tags us you might just get a £50 gift card."

Their tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign suggests that Liverpool have used their buy now, pay later service to land their second summer signing as opposed to paying the lump sum up front.
