Sixth generation Hull company John Good Group has been crowned the People’s Choice Family Business of the Year for Yorkshire.
The shipping and travel specialist, founded in 1833, was selected by Family Business United, an organisation championing such enterprises.

Adam Walsh, chief executive, said: “We were delighted to be presented with the People’s Choice Family Business of the Year for Yorkshire. We were up against several notable Yorkshire-based institutions, so it’s an honour to receive such recognition.
"Family Business United do a superb job in raising the profile and highlighting the impact of family businesses across the UK. We're passionate supporters of family businesses, and to share an evening with a cohort of inspiring and outstanding businesses was a great privilege.”
The ceremony was held at The Royal College of Physicians in London and comes two years after fellow Hull business Arco was named Supreme Family Business of the Year.
Paul Andrews, the founder of Family Business United, said: “Family firms are the backbone of the UK economy and contribute significantly in so many ways. Family firms deserve all the recognition they can get for all the good that they do in terms of employment, income generation, and wealth creation, not forgetting their continued charitable endeavours and investment in the communities in which they operate.”
