John Barnes has spoken about his health after revealing that he had his prostate removed following a cancer diagnosis.
The former England and Liverpool footballer, 62, told Good Morning Britain on Wednesday (24 June) that he never meant to make his diagnosis public, but was grateful for the support he’d received.
Barnes went on to speak about a media day he recently took part in for the World Cup.
“I was in a studio with these two women, and it was the time that the diagnosis came out about Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan,” he explained.
They said, ‘Oh, you know, so what about this cancer?’ And it wasn't prostate cancer with those, and I thought they were talking about me... I just went, ‘Well, you know, I've had it for, like, four years and, you know, I had the operation, and I'm all clear now, and I had my prostate out, so everything is fine.’”
