Jofra Archer trained with England for the first time in almost a year after joining their limited-overs side in Barbados ahead of a five-match T20I series against the West Indies.
Archer last played for England in March and has been out of action since July after suffering a setback in his recovery from an elbow injury.
The 26-year-old first had surgery on his elbow in May and, after an attempted comeback for Sussex was halted, he had been resting and rehabilitating the injury in the hope that he would not need a second operation.
However, Archer was forced to go under the knife once again last month and has been ruled out of action until next summer, provided there are no further setbacks in his recovery.
He returned to his native Barbados following the operation and entered the England bubble on Monday.
He was seen taking part in some sprint drills while England trained at the Kensington Oval on Tuesday, but he will not be bowling in the nets.
Archer missed the T20 World Cup and the Ashes, where his extra pace would have been a key asset, but England will now be hoping he can feature in this year's T20 World Cup.
The tournament will be staged in Australia and is set to begin on October 16, with Eoin Morgan's side expected to be among the favourites.
With the T20I series against the West Indies set to begin on January 22, just six days after the final Ashes Test finished, Morgan will be leading a new-look England side.
The squad includes two uncapped players in left-arm seamers George Garton and David Payne.
Gloucestershire star Payne was part of the makeshift squad England assembled for their ODI series against Pakistan last summer after a Covid outbreak and he is keen to make his debut.
"I turned 30 and I kind of earmarked it as it’s 'now or never' with England," he said. "It felt like I was going to go one way or the other and actually getting that call in the summer was everything I needed to know that I was as close as people had been telling me.
"That just really relit the fire and the spark and gave me that extra motivation to keep going. Now it feels like I’ve got a foot in the door, the age thing goes out the window a bit.
"Hopefully that doesn’t matter too much to England and if I can put in some decent performances I can cement a place in the team."
