If you watch Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. play for more than five minutes, it’s easy to tell that his dad was a Pro Bowl linebacker.
The younger Porter plays his position with the same physicality and competitiveness that made his father such a dominant defender in the pros, and that playing style is a big reason why he’ll be one of the first corners off the board in the 2023 NFL draft.
Porter’s combination of size, length and physicality is particularly effective in press coverage, where he put up some ridiculous numbers for the Nittany Lions last season (via Pro Football Focus).
When his name is called come April, Porter will be the first Penn State defensive back to be a first-round pick.
