Joey Barton due in court charged with attacking former football manager

  • The 43-year-old denies assaulting 51-year-old Kevin Lynch outside Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on 8 March.
  • The alleged attack took place after the two men had been drinking together at the venue.
  • Mr Lynch, a former non-league football manager, suffered serious eye injuries during the incident.
  • Barton, who won one England cap during his playing career, previously managed Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers.
