Newcastle United moved up to fifth in the Premier League on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over Brentford. The Magpies were always in control at St James' Park, with the Bees the architect of their own downfall at times.
Eddie Howe's men went in two goals to the good at half-time after Brentford's opener was ruled out by VAR. Ivan Toney notched from the penalty spot in the second-half but Newcastle wasted no time reestablishing their two-goal advantage before scoring two more late strikes.

Vocal Joelinton
Joelinton had to settle for a spot on the bench against Brentford after recovering from a knee issue but that didn't stop the Brazilian playing a small role from the outset on Saturday.
Joelinton used the final moments of the warm-up to gee up his fellow attacking co-stars with some words of wisdom before kick-off. Before heading down the tunnel, Joelinton passed on encouragement to Miguel Almiron, before wrapping his arms around Joe Willock and giving the midfielder a pep talk.
The Brazilian is clearly a vocal figure in the Newcastle dressing room these days after overcoming his initial struggles in a black and white shirt.
Bruno's exit gesture
Bruno Guimaraes enjoyed arguably the best performance of his Newcastle career on Saturday, netting a brace on his St James' Park return. The midfielder is still trying to regain full match fitness, with Eddie Howe substituting the 24-year-old after 78 minutes against Brentford.
Guimaraes walked around the pitch and passed the Gallowgate End, who chanted his name and waved at him during his farewell lap. The former Lyon man eventually reached the dugout, where he met Jason Tindall and shared a handshake with the Magpies assistant.
But Bruno also wanted the acknowledgement of his boss, so walked over to the touchline and grabbed Howe's arm, despite the fact the Newcastle boss was slightly busy barking orders to his players. Howe eventually realised it wasn't Tindall tugging on his sleeve before turning around and praising his star man.

Miggy's gift
Miguel Almiron found the net once again for Newcastle, capitalising on a poor backpass by Ethan Pinnock before rounding David Raya and slotting home. The attacker is enjoying a purple patch in a Newcastle shirt, with fans firmly backing him of late.
So much so, one supporter in the Gallowgate corner brought a Paraguay flag into the stadium for the Brentford clash. And it just so happened that was the corner Almiron sprinted too after making it 4-1.
Almiron proudly held the Paraguay flag aloft as he celebrated his third goal in two games.
Brentford join the trend
There's a new trend in football which is quite frankly baffling. AC Milan tried it against Chelsea, Manchester City have been known to try it in recent weeks and now Brentford have got in on the act.
During the second-half, the Bees attempted the tactic, which sees two players stand over a... corner-kick. Thomas Frank's side had two men stood over the set-piece, with another asking for the ball short. Unfortunately for Brentford, it simply allowed Newcastle to dominate the penalty area and clear their lines.
Not sure it is something Eddie Howe should be attempting in the next few weeks, despite the fact it is becoming a popular tactic for Premier League sides.
