Joel Matip has answered Thiago Alcantara question as Liverpool learn nothing new from Erling Haaland

It was a real blow to see Thiago go off injured on Saturday, but it's certainly not the first time we've seen that happen.

As the injuries continue to mount, there are two players who really stick out in that department: Thiago and Keita. You can’t keep them fit throughout the season. The manager knows when to rest Jordan Henderson, like he did last year with Joel Matip, and he’s going to have to do the same with Thiago. He has to play him in the games he knows he can.

As for Naby Keita, I’ve given up on him as it just feels like injuries are always around the corner. You just want him to stay fit and give himself a chance, but it never seems to quite happen. We haven’t had the value from Keita we were expecting, which is something that hasn’t happened with many of the players we’ve signed in recent years.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is another individual who just can't catch a break, and you feel for him. He has just been so unfortunate. Curtis Jones has had a few setbacks and has probably been out more than he would have liked to be. If Klopp is going to sign someone else in midfield, he would have to lose a player. Whichever one he thinks is not going to make the grade for this year, that would be the one to go.

Haaland brace should not come as a surprise

Much was made of Erling Haaland's first Premier League game for Manchester City but, for Liverpool, you can’t do anything about it. He is a quality striker and was always going to score.

Nunez and Salah may give him a run for his money this season, as well as Harry Kane. . Nunez does the same and finds the corners with his shots and it’s going to be interesting how the two players get on in the coming months. City have got players in midfield who will play to his strengths and, as we saw against West Ham, he is a top finisher. Pep Guardiola knew what he was buying. He will thrive with them, I’m pretty sure about that.
