Joel Embiid is at a pivotal point in his NBA career. He may have just won his first career MVP award but has yet to take the Philadelphia 76ers to the Eastern Conference Finals. And now, with James Harden apparently wanting out of Philadelphia really badly, there’s more pressure on Embiid to succeed than ever.
That is if Embiid wants to stay in Philadelphia. This isn’t necessarily a sure thing for a superstar who has a player option on his contract coming up in two seasons. Embiid is undoubtedly aware of these early conversations about his NBA future. How do we know?
He made a cryptic “5 DAYS” tweet Monday without clarifying what he was referring to. When a fan quickly objected to Embiid’s sentiment, he pointed to his Twitter bio, which fittingly has “Troel” as his middle name.
As in, he was probably trolling with his initial mysterious tweet:
We’re in this together forever… 5 DAYS

For now, Embiid appears committed to winning a championship for the 76ers. He might just poke and prod any rumors a little bit in his hopeful journey to get there.
