"Definitely [a happier city since promotion]," he told talkSPORT. "I've actually not wondered into town since we got promoted so I wouldn't be able to tell you first hand, but definitely from the people I've spoken to, family members, friends, people in restaurants and getting your Sunday lunch, people come over and tell you how amazing last season was and, more so, Wembley.
"To be there and play on the pitch in front of 37-38,000 Forest fans was incredible, and when that final whistle went, the noise and the scenes in the crowd are something that I'll never forget. A lot of lucky people actually went to watch that game and a lot of people saw it on the TV.
"But to actually be on the pitch and witness it was fantastic. It has sunk in. From the first day we started back for pre-season, it was much carry on from last season - but also get better. We're under no illusions that the next year is going to be tough, for a lot of teams, because the Premier League is increasingly getting better and better and better."
On the return to the top-flight of English football, the 25-year-old added: "Forest are, in my opinion, and that of many others, a massive football club and shouldn't be in the Premier League just by divine right.
"At the same time we've worked our way up extremely well since the new manager came in and got ourselves into the big league, which is absolutely fantastic for the clubs, the players and the city of Nottingham. After 23 years out of it, it has put a smile on a lot of people's faces."
