Joe Pyfer’s goal vs. Alen Amedovski: ‘Whoop his ass’ for a $50,000 bonus at UFC Fight Night 210

LAS VEGAS – Joe Pyfer is looking for a quick finish and some extra cash.

Pyfer (9-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) meets Alen Amedovski (8-3 MMA, 0-3 UFC) at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 210 event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streams on ESPN+.

Pyfer got high praise from Dana White after punching his ticket to the UFC through the Contender Series and will look to live up the hype when he faces the skidding Amedovski, who’s in search of his first octagon win.

“I don’t have any ill will toward the guy, but as an opponent, I think I’m better everywhere,” Pyfer told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at Wednesday’s media day. “I think I’m a better striker, I think I’m the better wrestler, I think I’m the better jiu-jitsu practitioner. I think he’s very sloppy. I think he’s very powerful. I think he’s explosive. But I think it’s only for a certain time.

“On paper, I’m supposed to beat this kid. He’s lost three times. He’s had his chance, and I’m going to be the nail in the coffin come Saturday. I don’t believe I’m going to beat him because I’m just supposed to beat him. I believe I’m going to beat him because I put an ample amount of time into what I’m doing.”

Pyfer will be making a turnaround of less than two months after earning his UFC contract July 26. The 25-year-old is riding a lot of momentum, but said he only had his UFC debut booked so fast because of the money, and he plans on taking a break after.

“(The) goal is to get $50K (in a post-fight bonus),” Pyfer said. “I’m broke. I need f*cking money. Why do you think I’m turning around and fighting so fast? It’s a good matchup. It’s a good opponent. He’s tough, and I respect him – I’m not overlooking him. I ain’t sh*t if I don’t go out there and beat him, so I’m going to go out there and whoop his ass – to knock him the frick out and get paid 50 grand.”
