Joe Hart earns Celtic bravery praise as Ange Postecoglou admits keeper's pain was catalyst for nine-goal gain

Ange Postecoglou has hailed keeper Joe Hart's bravery and brilliance as the catalyst behind Celtic's nine goal rout of Dundee United. The Hoops boss singled out the Englishman for refusing to come off the pitch after taking a Steven Fletcher boot to the head and bailing out his side from going a goal down in the opening seconds.

After a record breaking 9-0 win at Tannadice, Postecoglou pinpointed the impact the 35-year-old, who needed a cut to his scalp stapled shut, has on his squad even at the opposite end of the pitch from where the net was bulging.

He said: "Joe didn't have a lot to do and maybe his performance will be overlooked but he's such a professional and drives the standards every day. We could maybe have gone a goal down and that may wake you up but he doesn't allow that to happen. He makes a great save and shows the bravery to dive at the opponent's feet. It's a credit to him and he's fine."

Celtic's attention will now turn towards a League Cup clash against Ross County in Dingwall and Postecoglou insists he's not prepared to look any further than the test against the Staggies despite an Old Firm clash looming on Saturday before the glamour of Champions League duty against Real Madrid Tuesday.

He said: "We have 50-odd difficult games to come. We have one on Wednesday night and that's the only one at the forefront of my mind. Ross County away, as we all know, is such a difficult proposition, particularly in midweek and in a cup game.

"From my perspective, that's where our interest lies. We need to get the job done there and play our football and then tackle the next task beyond that. We knew these games were coming and we have worked hard with the full squad to make sure we are ready."
