Jets general manager Joe Douglas confirmed at the Scouting Combine that the team will be looking to add a veteran quarterback this offseason. It’s going to take a little bit of time, though.
Douglas said he is going to be “thorough with his process” when it comes to going through the quarterback market to make sure he finds the right fit for the team.
He couldn’t get into specifics regarding Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers due to tampering rules — though we can figure the team is waiting for his decision — but did talk about former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, calling him a “high-level producer” and raving about his personality, decision-making and accuracy.
Douglas said he’d like to make a decision regarding the quarterback position “sooner rather than later” but that he feels good about the process and that the Jets will be ready to pull the trigger when it’s time to pull the trigger.
Joe Douglas seems very confident on how the QB situation is going to play out.
Says #Jets will be ready to pull the trigger when it’s time to pull trigger.
Excited to meet with Carr again.
