Joe Dombrowski back on the attack at Tour of the Alps after ‘disaster’ start to season

Joe Dombrowski enjoyed a day out front at the Tour of the Alps, making the peloton and the overall contenders go deep to chase him on the 15km Passo San Valentino climb to the finish.

The Astana Qazaqstan rider was caught just three kilometres from the finish after fighting the long and constant gradient, his own limits and the riders chasing him. He was also passed by Tao GeoGhegan Hart and the other overall contenders but fought all the way to the line to finish 12th.
