As his team preps for the Week 6 game against the New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a pretty interesting comment during an interview.
Speaking with reporters, Burrow suggested that he’s not 100 percent back yet, specifically speaking to his ball rotation and spin velocity on throws.
Burrow went as far as joking about what he’s told teammates, too: “Yeah, I told them they’d have to catch a couple of wobblers out there until I get back in the swing of things.”
Of course, Burrow also admitted he’s probably playing the best ball of his career. It’s reflected in both stats and some of the throws he’s been ripping across the face of defenses with accuracy.
That’s why it’s a little weird to hear he doesn’t necessarily consider himself all the way back. Were his team not somehow 1-4, Burrow would probably be in the MVP conversation, as he’s completed 72.3 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns against two interceptions.
Burrow thinking he has yet another level to reach is good news, at least, for fans who haven’t had much good to celebrate over the first month of the season.
