Joe Burrow claims he’s ‘definitely still a Buckeye.’

So let’s dive into the controversy, shall we? I don’t quite understand it, but hey — college football right? Ohio State fans still claim Joe Burrow since he spent over three years there and even has a degree from THE. LSU fans don’t like it and laugh about Buckeye fans still claiming a guy that transferred from OSU to LSU where he became a Heisman winner and national champion.

I say, to each his own. Burrow has a degree from Ohio State and to think that three years of his career didn’t have anything to do with what he has become is not looking at things objectively. At the same time, I can see some Buckeye fans throwing hate the other way if things were flipped.

Can’t we all just get along?

But, time to digress. If you really want to settle the argument, why don’t we just ask Burrow himself? Well, as luck would have it, Burrow responded to that very notion this week in a media appearance. When asked whether he feels a camaraderie with several other former Ohio State players on the team, he didn’t hesitate about still being a member of the family.

“I mean, I’m definitely still a Buckeye,” said Burrow. “I graduated from there — I still have relationships to this day that I wouldn’t have without being there. I’m still in contact with coach Mick (Mickey Marotti), and coach (Ryan) Day, and Cory (Dennis) and all those guys. So, you know, I’m still a Buckeye.”

There. I’m sure this will settle the debate. OK, who are we kidding? Go ahead and sling mud between the fanbases, I don’t care. However, don’t ever let an SEC fan tell you that a Big Ten player wouldn’t ever put up the same numbers in sweet tea and grits country that he did in the heartland because Burrow just shuttered that notion back in 2019.
