Joe Brolly laid into Donegal after Robert Hennelly's last-gasp equaliser secured a point for Mayo at Markievicz Park.
Despite being down to 14 men after Stephen Coen's sending off, James Horan's men rattled off the last four points of the game to dig out a result in dramatic fashion.
Hennelly was the hero of the hour with a penalty save from Paddy McBrearty's second half spot-kick and a nerveless late equaliser from a free in wet, windy conditions.
Former RTE pundit and Sunday Game analyst Brolly was scathing in his criticism of Donegal after the final whistle, taking to Twitter to air his views.
The ex-Derry star took aim at Donegal's tactics and labelled Bonner's side 'quitters'.
He tweeted: "As soon as Mayo got stuck in, Donegal calved (sic). Again.
"Donegal’s solo running and hand passing disease means they could not adjust to Mayo’s excellent heavy press from the halfway line up.
"Instead of kicking over the top of the swarm to the inside forwards, they kept getting turned over. Also they are quitters."
Brolly went on to call Donegal's gameplan 'dreary and uninspiring' in reply to followers.
Elsewhere in Division 1, Armagh shocked Dublin with a 2-15 to 1-13 win at Croke Park last night, while Kildare and Kerry also shared the spoils in Newbridge this afternoon.
