President of the United States Joe Biden has sent Leeds United duo Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams a 'Go get 'em' message ahead of their World Cup opener with Wales. The Whites pair were part of a group phonecall with the president and head coach Gregg Berhalter.

The 49-year-old had the phonecall with Biden on speaker as the rest of the squad listened to the words of encouragement. The USMNT took on Daniel James' Wales at 7pm tonight.

Adams is expected to lead his country out to face Wales having been named the captain for the tournament.

Gregg Berhalter: "Here we go guys, showtime guys are you ready? It says POTUS that's where it's coming from."

Joe Biden: "Coach put me in I'm ready to play. You guys, I know you're the underdog but I'll tell you what man, you got some of the best players in the world on your team and you're representing this country and I know you're going to play your hearts out.

"So let's go shock 'em all. Keep trusting in one another, play as hard as you can and you know, for your families, your teammates and the whole country is rooting for you."

GB: "That's a very nice message Mr. President, the whole team is here right now and we really appreciate your support and we're ready to go. Guys do you want to say hello?"

USA group: Inaudible hellos.

GB: "Did you get any of that?"

JB: "I got some of it, I got some some of it."

GB: "A lot of thank yous and a lot of hellos."

JB: "I wish I were there to see you I really do. Go get 'em guys just play your hearts out."

GB: "We got this."

JB: "I know you will, I know you will."

GB: "Alright, that was nice huh?"

*Applause*
