Jockey pays tribute to Shane Warne with bowling impersonation as he wins with icon's horse

Jockey Noel Callow paid tribute to Australian cricket legend Shane Warne after winning on Sacred Oath, a horse which was part-owned by the leg-spinner.

Sacred Oath won the 1200m race on the Gold Coast, the horse's first career win, and Callow delivered a perfect tribute to Warne after crossing the finish line. After a customary fist pump, Callow mimicked Warne's bowling action.

The late, great cricket star tragically passed away last month at the age of just 52 after suffering a heart attack while on holiday in Thailand. Jarred Magnabosco, spokesperson for Sacred Oath's ownership group, highlighted the tribute on social media.

"How about Noel Callow giving the leg spin for @ShaneWarne past the post!" he wrote. "Incredible to get the maiden out of the way for all connections!"

Warne's friend and former AFL player Campbell Brown, who also co-owns the horse, tweeted: "Very sentimental win that. Well done [trainer] David [Vandyke] to get the horse back in such good order after last starts incident.

"Great ride King and Lovely delivery. Hope u enjoyed that SK."

Speaking in February, Magnabosco revealed how Warne ended up involved in purchasing the horse. "I am good mates with Campbell Brown and I was buying a horse in New Zealand and funnily enough Brownie was playing poker with Warney one night," he told Racenet.

"Brownie told Warney they needed to get into a horse together and, believe it or not, Warney came into this horse. I think this is the first horse Warney ever bought into, although I think he's got another one which may have raced since.

"I met Warney last year when he was on the Gold Coast for a poker tournament and we ended up watching the State Of Origin. This horse was passed in at the Sales in New Zealand and was then purchased off the farm at Wentwood Grange."
