Joao Felix predicted to make Arsenal and Liverpool transfer decision after London spotting

Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix has been predicted to make a big Liverpool and Arsenal transfer decision by snubbing the Premier League duo in favour of moving within Spain or returning back to Portugal.

Felix has struggled to settle into life in the Spanish capital since his club-record £115million move from Benfica to Diego Simeone's side.

His goal against Man United in the Champions League was a reminder to all potential suitors of his qualities if a side around Europe were to take a chance on the versatile forward in the summer.

Two sides that have been touted to be interested in testing the water with Atletico Madrid in the summer are the Premier League duo of Liverpool and Arsenal.

Jurgen Klopp's side are always on the look out for young talent to develop, with Luis Diaz the latest example of smart recruitment that London sides will envy.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's quest to sign a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and potentially Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as well could see Felix as a valid option as Atletico consider cashing in early this summer on their long-term investment made three years ago.

Jonathan David, Patrick Schick, Luka Jovic and even Robert Lewandowski have also been touted as potential names that Edu could consider in the next summer transfer window.

And Felix has been busy whipping up a small frenzy in the rumour mill after he was spotted watching the Carabao Cup final from Wembley with friends.

However, McManaman says he does not believe that the Portuguese attacker is of the required ability to get into Liverpool's side, with the pundit suggesting that a move back home could be a realistic option.

"It's possible we will see him in the Premier League in the next few years," he told Horseracing.net.

"I don’t know whether he wants to go and play abroad. But he’s certainly struggled at Atletico. His reputation when he went to Atletico was huge.

"It was a big, big price tag for such a young lad coming out of Portugal and he hasn’t lived up to it at all. I don’t think he’s good enough to play for Liverpool from what I’ve seen and I don’t know who else would take him.

"If he was €30million (£24million), someone would take a chance on him but there’s no way, from what you’ve seen, that someone’s going to pay a lot of money for him to bring him to the Premier League. If anything I think he’d stay in Spain or go back to Portugal.

"We’ve said before, certain players suit certain teams and certain players don’t, and he’s one, going to play for Simeone and the way they play just doesn’t suit. It just looks like the wrong fit.

"They’ve tried every type of player there, from Suarez, Correas, Griezmann, to Joao Felix, and nothing seems to be working at the moment. I can totally understand why he’s struggled at Atletico Madrid.

"But whether he turns up in the Premier League, it wouldn’t be for the price tag and the fanfare that it was when he joined Atlético Madrid."

With a current value of £54million according to Transfermarkt, if the opportunity arose in the summer, would Arsenal fans even want to see Edu and co. take advantage of a price drop for the attacker?
