RUDRAPUR: The Jawahar Lal Nehru District Hospital in Udham Singh Nagar district headquarters, Rudrapur has been declared the winner of the prestigious Kayakalp Award for Healthcare Standards by the health department of Uttarakhand. The hospital bagged the first place jointly with the Dehradun Coronation Hospital. The annual award was announced after an inspection of 13 district hospitals in January.
The Rudrapur District Hospital has won the award for the third time, having also received it in 2015 and 2018. The prize money of Rs 50 lakh will be divided equally between the two hospitals. The Gopeshwar District Hospital in Chamoli, which stood second, will receive Rs 13 lakh, while hospitals in Champawat, Nainital, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarkashi will be given a citation and Rs three lakh.
Dr RK Sinha, chief medical superintendent of Rudrapur District Hospital, expressed gratitude for the award and credited the hospital's success to the dedicated efforts of the staff and management in providing quality healthcare services. "The hospital has received 85.57% marks. The award recognises hospitals that excel in healthcare, cleanliness, staff functioning, and maintenance of documents. The award is aimed at promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control practices in public healthcare facilities across the country," Dr Sinha said. ---
