Jim McIntyre sacked as manager of Cove Rangers

Jim McIntyre has been sacked as manager of Cove Rangers.

The former Dunfermline, Dundee and Ross County boss was given the top job at the Aberdeenshire-based club in June.

He took over the reins from Paul Hartley, who left for Hartlepool, for their debut season in the Championship.

However, after a dismal run of just one win in five games, including yesterday's 6-1 thumping at the hands of Inverness, the Kilmarnock cup winning hero has been relived of his duties.

A statement reads: "Cove Rangers can this afternoon announce that we have parted company with manager Jim McIntyre with immediate effect.

"The decision follows yesterday’s 6-1 defeat in Inverness and comes at a time when we sit in eighth place in the cinch Championship.

"The club will now take the necessary steps to appoint a new first team manager.

"No further comment will be made at this stage."

Chairman Keith Moorhouse insists it was a tough call to make, but one he believes is correct with the second half of the season to come.

He added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jim for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.”

Cove sit eigith in the table after 19 games. They have 21-points.

Arbroath sit one place below them in the play-off position, but have played a game more and are four adrift.

Meanwhile, St Johnstone have confirmed that youngster Max Kucheriavyi has signed a new two-year contract extension.

The Ukranian has proven to be one of the club's brightest talents and has featured a handful of times for the first-team this season.

The 20-year-old also caught the attention of his national side when he earned his first call-up to the U21 squad earlier this campaign.

Kucheriavyi's debut came against Israel in October when he scored within two minutes of the match.
