For a few hours, it sure appeared as if Jim Harbaugh was heading back to the NFL. But fresh reports, including one from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, indicate that Harbaugh will remain the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines and not take over as the coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
Harbaugh flew to Minnesota to interview with the Vikings for their head coaching vacancy this week. He’s also been rumored as a subject of coaching searches in Las Vegas and Miami, and the Vikings’ aggressive pursuit led many to believe he would be in the NFC North in 2022.
However, it now appears Harbaugh isn’t ready to jump back to the NFL. He’s been in charge at Michigan since 2015, when he left the San Francisco 49ers head coaching position to return to his alma mater. Harbaugh went 44-19-1 in four seasons in San Francisco, including a trip to Super Bowl XLVII.
