Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh seemingly knew exactly what he wanted to say when asked how it felt for the Wolverines to win three-straight Big Ten titles.
While talking with Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt in the trophy ceremony, Harbaugh threw out a one-word answer that carried a lot of weight for how things have been going recently with Michigan football: “Bet.”
If you’re curious what this means, “bet” is the word scores of Michigan players and fans posted after Harbaugh got his three-game suspension from the conference amid the allegations from Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal.
If you’re curious why they’re saying “bet,” it’s slang for a sly acknowledgement of someone saying or doing something. For example, if someone challenges you to eat 50 chicken nuggets, you’d perhaps say “bet” in return to them before making yourself sick by eating that many nuggets.
Harbaugh saying the word is a direct bit of defiance to the conference that just suspended him and a surefire way to hype up his team even further.

The Big Ten title going to Michigan is yet another point of melodrama in this college football scandal, and Harbaugh didn’t miss his chance to rub it in the face of the conference with this very pointed response.
