Jim Goodwin insists it's all systems go for Aberdeen after new recruit Bojan Miovski finally checked in at Pittodrie. The North Macedonia striker's move to the Dons had been delayed due a visa application.
But the £535,000 signing's from MTK Budapest is set to be unleashed against Raith Rovers in the League Cup tomorrow. It's another welcome attacking option for Goodwin who admits Bojan Miovski's arrival has been the accumulation of months of hard work.
He said: "It's great to have Miovski here at last as he's another great attacking option for the team. He'll go straight into the squad for the Raith game but he hasn't played any matches. It's always a concern about how we can get him up to speed but he will get some minutes on Sunday. We watched Bojan about six times in the flesh and our head of recruitment Darren Mowbray has been in 16 different countries since I came in.
"I gave him a list of priority positions and number 9 striker was one of those as we relied heavily on Christian Ramirez last season.
"There were no other real options as Marley Watkins was out injured so we needed to strengthen that department.
"While Darren was over watching Miovski, Ylber Ramadani stuck out as well so we got both from MTK Budapest.
"They already know how to work together and that will make the whole process of settling into Aberdeen much easier."
Goodwin believes he has an array of attacking talent at his disposal which could leave him spoiled for choice for the challenges which lie ahead.
He said: "I think we are in really good shape with the seven that we've added so far but are still looking to do a bit of business.
"We would like to get another two, maybe three in but if the league campaign was to start tomorrow I would be pleased with what I've got.
"There's still plenty of time left in the window and we have been one of the busier teams in the division and the quality is there for everybody to see.
"I look at the attacking players in the squad now with Christian Ramirez, Miovski and Duk along with Matty Kennedy back to full fitness.
"That's almost like a new signing, Watkins is fit again and Jonny Hayes had come back like a 21-year-old.
"He's one of the older players in the squad but his numbers in terms of the GPS data and high-speed running is phenomenal.
"We've gone from having very few options to having lots of options which is what you want as a manager."
New Dons keeper Kelle Roos has kept three clean sheets against Peterhead, Dumbarton and Stirling and the 30-year-old is taking nothing for granted against Raith tomorrow.
He said: “I’m pleased with it. We have been here before where you play these games and they might get very sticky.
“There were one or two times I reacted to what I needed. It might look easy from the sidelines at times but if you concede goals at the wrong time in these games they can get really difficult and sticky.
“Everybody on the pitch is very aware of the fact that it starts with clean sheets.
"Three points get you Dominos and Dominos gives you a good dressing room. It’s better that way.
“It has been positive so far. I probably haven’t been tested personally as much but at the same time it is always important to keep your standards high. In the games so far you can see we are building towards something good."
