Former Republic of Ireland and Liverpool footballer Jim Beglin has again voiced his discontent over the events surrounding last weekend's UEFA Champions League final.
There were chaotic scenes both before and after Real Madrid's 1-0 win at the Stade de France, with fans in the Liverpool end held up in tight bottlenecks, with police using pepper spray and tear gas on them.
Many who attended the game also alleged muggings of fans by organised gangs following the conclusion of the game.
Beglin, who now works as a co-commentator, was in Paris for the final and he originally took to Twitter on Sunday to describe the scenes outside the Stade de France.
He tweeted: “Post-match last night was the scariest I’ve ever experienced.
"Organised gangs set about mugging departing fans. We ran a gauntlet of thuggery on our way to the Metro. Not a police officer in sight.
"Witnessed so many ambush attacks on unsuspecting attendees. Reprehensible @UEFA."
Prior to the final, French soccer legend Thierry Henry made comments on CBS where he warned that the stadium's location in Saint-Denis promised the kind of trouble which then ensued.
He said: "Be careful, the stadium is in Saint-Denis, not Paris.
"It's not Paris. Trust me, you don’t want to be in Saint-Denis. It's not the same as Paris."
And Beglin took to Twitter again to voice his anger over the weekend's events once again.
He tweeted: "F**k off St. Denis. Still angry."
On Monday, Liverpool Football Club appealed to fans who had attended the final in Paris to share their own experiences in order to support a potential investigation into the handling of the event.
Their tweet read: "We are asking supporters who attended the Champions League final in Paris to complete a feedback form in order to support any investigation into the operational management of the event."
The club previously expressed their discontent at how events unfolded and noted how the scenes witnessed were unacceptable.
A statement read: "We are hugely disappointed at the stadium entry issues and breakdown of the security perimeter that Liverpool fans faced this evening at Stade de France.
"This is the greatest match in European football and supporters should not have to experience the scenes we have witnessed tonight.
"We have officially requested a formal investigation into the causes of these unacceptable issues."
