Jill Halfpenny is taking on a dark new role to lead the cast of new Channel 5 thriller The Holiday.
After starring in The Drowning, another gripping original drama for the broadcaster last year, Geordie actress Jill is back on screen next week as the matriarch of a family jetting off on a dream holiday to Malta, only for things to take a murderous turn.
The trailer for The Holiday, which kicks off on Tuesday, March 1 at 9pm, sees idyllic blue seas and a stunning villa come into shot as the words: 'The perfect family holiday...turns to murder' appear on screen.

Former Coronation Street, EastEnders and Waterloo Road star Jill plays Kate, a detective who is intent to have some much needed R&R with her husband and children in the sun, before her world is rocked by finding out that other half Sean is having an affair....with one of her friends when she finds incriminating messages on his phone, just hours after their arrival.
Kate is left wondering which of her friends would betray her in such a brutal way and, as the holiday continues and more characters are introduced, more secrets and lies threaten to come out, with one individual prepared to kill to keep their secret safe.
The Holiday will air over four consecutive nights on Channel 5, with the final episode on Friday, March 4.
It follows hot on the heels of the success of The Teacher, starring Sheridan Smith, which also had fans hooked for four nights in a row.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the thriller on Twitter, with one viewer posted: "I’m looking forward to it The Holiday on Channel 5 1st march can’t wait it looks really good"
A second tweeted: "ust saw an advert for a new @channel5_tv drama The Holiday with @halfpennyjill and I can't wait for it to start , if it's anything like the drowning it will be gripping."
