INDIA Bloc releases manifesto for Jharkhand Polls

Ranchi: The INDIA alliance on Tuesday unveiled its joint manifesto for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, promising seven guarantees to the people of the election-bound state. 

The Manifesto was launched in the presense of Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, State Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren and RJD's JP Yadav.

Ten lakh jobs for youth, health insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakh for the poor, provision of Rs 2,500 under the 'Maiya Samman', LPG cylinders at Rs 450 and the free monthly ration quantity to be raised to seven kg per person from 5 kg, (Minimum Support Price (MSP) of rice to be increased from Rs 2,400 to Rs 3,200 along with 50 per cent increase in rates of other crops were among the promises made in the manifesto.

INDIA block also promised to enhancing reservations for STs to 28 per cent, SCs to 12 per cent and OBCs to 27 per cent from current 26 per cent, 10 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively.

Addressing the reporters, Kharge said: "We (Congress) do not make hollow promises. When UPA was in power, we introduced MNREGA scheme. Millions of people in the country got employment under MNREGA. We brought the Food Security Act. We brought the Land Acquisition Act and gave the right to education. We implemented the National Health Mission in the country."

"That means we fulfilled all the promises we made to the public," Kharge added.

Hement Sorren said: "After this election, the coming government will move forward with the guarantees that have been launched today."

The state will go to polls in two phases on Novemeber 13 and November 20 while the outcome of the polls will be announced on November 23.
