It’s full-blown mock draft season across the internet and media landscape now that Super Bowl LVII is in the books. Our friends at Draft Wire did exactly that after the Super Bowl with a three-round mock draft.
The Jets were able to trade back and still land one of the top offensive tackles in the draft in this mock, which would be a very good scenario if it actually plays out in April.
The Jets dropped back three spots, trading with the Washington Commanders. They then took Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones at No. 16. We’ve mentioned Jones plenty to this point and it’s clear he should be a top option for the Jets in the first round.
In the second round, the Jets retool their secondary with Texas A&M safety Antonio Johnson.
Their third-round pick is very interesting. The Jets actually take a mid-round quarterback as they select Stanford quarterback Tanner McKee, who is one of the more intriguing prospects in the mid to later rounds of the draft.
He’s a bit raw as a prospect, with only two full years as starter and his numbers weren’t the strongest. But he’s one that a team can work with and develop and would be an interesting No. 3 quarterback for the Jets, presumably. He has a lot of size and a strong arm.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility for the Jets to take a quarterback at some point during the draft and if there’s one to monitor among the later prospects, it’s McKee.
