Jets injury report: Trevor Siemian likely starting with Zach Wilson still out

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson remained out of practice Thursday and it’s looking more likely that Trevor Siemian will start Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders. Even comments made by offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett seemed to suggest as such.

Hackett was asked to comment on Aaron Rodgers’ public endorsement of him from earlier in the week and said: “I didn’t even know about that, truthfully. I’ve been keeping my head down trying to get Trevor ready for this game. I’ve got a great relationship with Aaron, Aaron’s been with me through a lot of different things, and he knows how I work, how we work as a staff, so that’s always appreciated, but in the end, my focus is on Washington and getting Trevor ready.”

Most of Hackett’s comments revolved around Siemian, so while nothing is official yet, it’s sounding very much like Wilson will be out this week and Siemian will be in against Washington. If he does, Siemian will be the fourth quarterback to start a game for the Jets this season, joining Rodgers, Wilson and Tim Boyle.

Like Wednesday’s walkthrough, Wilson, Rodgers and defensive end John Franklin-Myers all missed practice Thursday. Running back Israel Abanikanda (ankle) and safety Jordan Whitehead (knee) remained limited.

Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton (knee/shoulder), wide receiver Jason Brownlee (ankle), defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes (elbow), offensive tackle Max Mitchell (neck), defensive lineman Solomon Thomas (knee), center Joe Tippmann (shoulder), offensive tackle Carter Warren (hip) and linebacker Quincy Williams (knee) were all full participants.
