The Jets are one of the most interesting teams of the NFL offseason, as New York is firmly in the market for a new quarterback. The team has already met with free agent Derek Carr, and is expected to be interested in Aaron Rodgers if the Packers decide to trade him
On Tuesday at the NFL combine, Jets general manager Joe Douglas spoke for the first time since meeting with Carr. Douglas praised the former Raiders quarterback, and confirmed that he expects to meet with him again at the combine.
“That was a fantastic visit, I really enjoyed spending time with him,” Douglas said. “He left a strong impression with everybody.”
While Douglas was willing to talk about Carr, he wasn’t able to share any information on the Jets’ pursuit of Rodgers, who is still under contract with the Packers. Additionally, any quarterback who will hit free agency in a few weeks is still under contract with their teams, meaning public comments about them would be tampering as well.

“Obviously, [Carr] is the only quarterback that I can really shed some light on since he’s the only quarterback that’s a free agent,” Douglas said.
Free agency officially opens on March 15, but the Jets and Carr can agree to a deal at any time after the Raiders released Carr earlier this month.
While Carr and Rodgers appear at the top of the Jets’ list, they aren’t the only two the team will consider. SI’s Albert Breer reported on Monday that New York will also consider Ryan Tannehill, Jimmy Garoppolo, Daniel Jones and potentially Geno Smith.
