Jets defensive assistant Tony Oden was carted off the field after a brief scuffle broke out during the team’s joint session with the Buccaneers on Wednesday.
It is not yet clear what happened to Oden. However, multiple reporters stated that Oden went down after the incident. The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt reported that Oden attempted to walk to Jets cornerback Justin Hardee and “dropped back to the ground.”
Oden got up under his own power and was able to walk to the cart. From there, he was taken inside the practice facility.
Oden, who also serves as the team’s cornerbacks coach, enters his third season as an assistant in New York. Prior to joining the Jets, Oden also worked under Jets coach Robert Saleh when the two were with the 49ers.
New York (1–1) recently picked up its first preseason win, defeating the Panthers 27–0 on Saturday. The Jets will take the field for their third game on Saturday against the Buccaneers.
