The New York Jets are underway at training camp, and they’ve begun removing some key players off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. After activating Mekhi Becton, Carl Lawson and C.J. Uzomah on Tuesday night, they’ve now removed George Fant from the PUP list.
That makes all four of those players eligible to practice on Wednesday.
Fant and Becton will compete for the starting left tackle spot, with the “loser” of that battle in line to start at right tackle. It’s one of the most fascinating battles of camp and it’s critical that both players stay healthy all summer and into the regular season.

Fant has started 29 games for the Jets in the last two years, playing both left and right tackle. He helped replace Becton last season when he missed all but one game, but the Jets hope both players can stay available in 2022.
