Passengers traveling economy on JetBlue will no longer receive hot meals after the airline claimed the change was necessary to maintain "competitive fares."

Hot meals are now reserved for JetBlue's premium Mint class passengers on transatlantic flights, as reported by CNN.

JetBlue said it had been testing out new menu options on summer flights to Dublin and Edinburgh, which they implemented across all flights in September. The airline said in a statement obtained by CBS said that even with the changes, the menu still "lives up to the standard we set for high-quality meals."

The statement continued, "This change is part of our effort to ensure we can continue to provide a great experience at JetBlue's competitive fares on these routes."

Some of the options on the economy class menu include a crepe or overnight oats for breakfast, a chicken grain bowl or ginger garlic tofu for lunch and a pesto pasta salad or mushrooms and lentils for dinner, as reported by CBS. JetBlue noted, "All items served chilled."

JetBlue has been working on becoming profitable again as it began its "JetForward" plan earlier in September. The airline reported an adjusted loss of $151 million last year, up from a loss of $260 million in 2022, as reported by CNN.
