Jet2 has urged customers to be aware of a series of scams that could see holidaymakers caught out before they travel.
The airline alerted travellers to six requests that could see them handing money over to fraudsters, from booking flights to buying credit notes. It appeared that one technique being used by scammers involved impersonating Jet2 to falsely tell passengers that they could arrange Covid tests or Fit to Fly documents through the travel provider.
A post on Jet2’s Twitter page read: “We do not arrange PCR tests or Fit to Fly documents directly to customers, please do not respond to requests for this.” Some destinations still require travellers from the UK to take PCR or lateral flow tests ahead of and/or when they arrive in the country, the Liverpool Echo reports

Jet2 also warned holidaymakers to make sure they double-check they are going through the official channels when it comes to getting in touch with their travel provider. “Only contact us using the methods shown on the Contact Us pages on the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays websites,” the airline wrote.
The post added: “Always check company telephone numbers and documentation. Scammers may pretend to be a legitimate company. We do not call from 0203 numbers.
“You should only book Jet2.com flights or Jet2holidays directly with us or through one of our approved ABTA registered Trade Partners,” it continued. The airline also reminded customers that it would never ask them to pay money directly into an individual’s private bank account.
Finally, Jet2 told passengers to be aware when buying credit notes. “Do not purchase any form of Jet2.com or Jet2holidays credit notes via Social Media as they are unlikely to be honoured.” You can find more information on travelling safely and check current travel requirements for Jet2 destinations on the airline's website.
