JET2 has announced flights to a brand-new Christmas market destination leaving Scottish travellers “spoiled for choice” for a winter holiday this year.
The airline announced it will be offering flights to Bratislava in Slovakia as part of its winter programme this year and will be providing flights from Glasgow Airport.
The travel firm said there has been a growing popularity among Scottish holiday makers to visit European Christmas markets and hopes the “fantastic” destination of Bratislava will be popular for those seeking a winter adventure.
Flights to Bratislava have already gone on sale offering trips to the Slovakian capital from November 28 until December 22.
Flights will travel from Glasgow to Vienna Airport, with two weekly services on Thursdays and Sundays, and from there holidaymakers will make a “short trip” over the border as part of the package holiday.
Bratislava is located along the Danube River, bordered by Austria and Hungary, and offers scenic landscapes, along with a rich culture and history.
There are five Christmas market destinations available to book from Glasgow Airport, including Prague, Vienna, Krakow, Berlin, and now Bratislava.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, said the latest addition to the travel firm's flights means Scottish customers are “spoiled for choice” when it comes to visiting European Christmas markets.
He said: “Christmas market breaks are continuing to grow in popularity, so we are delighted to be going on sale with a brand-new festive destination for Winter 24/25 from Glasgow Airport.
“Bratislava is a fantastic destination, and we are expecting these new Christmas market packages with Jet2CityBreaks to be very popular with both customers and independent travel agents.
“We are always listening and reacting to feedback from holidaymakers, and this latest expansion of our Christmas Markets programme from Glasgow Airport is just another example of that.
“With the addition of Bratislava to our Christmas Markets programme for Winter 24/25 from Glasgow Airport, customers are spoiled for choice when it comes to experiencing a European Christmas market this season.”
Matt Hazelwood, chief commercial officer at AGS Airports, called the announcement an “exciting opportunity” for Scottish holidaymakers and reflects a “strong demand” for winter holidays.
