Jessica Simpson reveals her dad's bone cancer battle as daughter makes touching wish

Jessica Simpson has opened up about her father's bone cancer battle.

In a birthday tribute to her daughter, Maxwell, as she turned 11-years-old, the fashion designer revealed that her father Joe's cancer treatment had thankfully worked.

In the heartwarming post, Jessica told her 6.3million followers on Instagram that Maxwell had used her birthday wish on her grandfather, wishing that his "bone cancer treatment to work."

Underneath a sweet snap of the mother and daughter duo, Jessica started her caption with: "On May 1, 2012, my first born, Maxwell Drew Johnson arrived into this life as a sentient being seemingly not of this world.

"In the purest of form, her mind heart and soul ascended from the grace of heaven to shine in profound ways."

She went on to say that she used to pray for a daughter when she was a child and claims to have known her her entire life, noting that her journal entries from decades ago shows that "Maxwell was already living inside of my heart and my purpose."

Sharing her daughter's birthday wish with her followers, Jessica wrote: "Three days later on our way back to Cali she overheard me reading a text from my Dad and asked my mom sitting next to her 'GiGi if my birthday wish came true already can I say it out loud or do I still keep it to myself?'"

Jessica ended her lengthy caption with a message of thanks her "intelligent, passionate, generous" daughter.

"Thank you Maxi Drew for usin’ your wish on our family and most importantly, my Dad. The faith of a child is what keeps all of us ALIVE," she concluded.

Joe, Jessica's father, had previously battled prostate cancer in 2016 but after undergoing radiation treatment was given the all clear.
